From Uvita, drive south on Route 34 for approximately 18 km. Look for a sign on the left for 'Restaurante Tilapia' or 'Cascada El Pavón' just before a bridge; if you cross the bridge, you've gone too far. Turn left onto the gravel road and continue for about 3.5-4 km. The road is generally manageable in a standard car during the dry season, but a 4WD is recommended during the rainy season. Parking is available on the roadside near the trailhead. There is no parking fee.

From Jaco, take a bus from Avenida Pastor Diaz towards Quepos or Manuel Antonio. Ask the driver to drop you off near Punta Mala Arriba. The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. From there, walk about 1.5 kilometers east on the main road towards Punta Mala Arriba. Look for a small trail on your left leading to the waterfall. The local bus fare is around 500-1,000 colones.

From Puerto Viejo, a taxi to Cascada El Pavón may cost between 10,000 to 15,000 colones. Confirm with the driver that they know the location of Cascada El Pavón. Alternatively, you can ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to the waterfall, from which you may have to walk a short distance. Ensure you have cash available, as not all taxis accept credit cards.
