Getting There

  • Driving

    From Puerto Jiménez, head southwest on Ruta Nacional Secundaria 245. Continue for approximately 10 km. Look for signs indicating Ojo del Mar Ecolodge; the entrance will be on your left. Be prepared for some unpaved sections as you get closer to the lodge.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available in Puerto Jiménez. A taxi from the town center to Ojo del Mar Ecolodge will cost approximately $35. Agree on the fare with the driver before starting your journey. The ride takes around 30 minutes.

  • Colectivo

    A colectivo taxi (flatbed truck) runs from Puerto Jiménez to Carate, passing near Ojo del Mar. It departs Puerto Jiménez at 6:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., passing Matapalo around 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.. The trip to Matapalo costs around $4. From Matapalo, it is still necessary to take a taxi or walk to the Ecolodge.
