If arriving from nearby towns like Cahuita or Manzanillo, take the local MEPE bus. The bus will drop you off in Puerto Viejo, from where you can easily walk to Playa Puerto Viejo. The bus fare from Cahuita to Puerto Viejo is approximately ₡1000-₡2270.

Taxis and tuk-tuks are readily available in Puerto Viejo. A short taxi ride from the outskirts of town to Playa Puerto Viejo will cost around ₡2000-₡3000, depending on the distance and time of day.

There is no official parking at Playa Puerto Viejo, but there are several places to park in town within walking distance of the beach. Street parking is available, but it can be limited during peak tourist seasons. There are also makeshift lots on the north side of Avenida 73, near the bus station. Paid parking options may be available, with fees varying. Expect to pay around ₡2000-₡4000 for a few hours.
