    Take the bus from the Terminal del Caribe in San Jose to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui. From Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, take the local bus towards Rio Frio, Limon. Ask the driver to drop you off near Las Chaves, about 8km from Puerto Viejo. From there, it's a short walk to Heliconia Island. Bus fare from San Jose to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui is approximately $2.50 USD. The local bus fare is minimal.
