If you are traveling by public transportation, take a bus from San José to Cariari. Buses leave regularly from the Terminal 7-10 in San José. The fare is approximately $5-7, and the journey takes about 3 hours. Once in Cariari, you will need to catch another bus to La Pavona. This bus ride costs around $2 and takes about 1 hour. Upon arriving in La Pavona, follow the same steps as mentioned for car travel: park your car and take a boat to Tortuguero Village.
