The Palais des Sports de Treichville is a prominent sports and entertainment venue located in the Treichville district of Abidjan. Built in 1978, it has a capacity of 3,500 seats. The arena has been a central hub for sports and cultural events in Abidjan for decades.The Palais des Sports has hosted numerous important events, including the 1985 African Basketball Championship. The venue also hosts handball, boxing, volleyball, fencing, and martial arts competitions. In addition to sports, the Palais des Sports is a popular venue for concerts and other cultural gatherings, offering a diverse range of entertainment options for both locals and tourists.After falling into disrepair in the 2000s, the Palais des Sports underwent a complete renovation in 2012 at a cost of 1.865 billion CFA francs. This refurbishment was in preparation for hosting the 8th edition of the Francophone Taekwondo World Cup. In 2013, a new sports hall with two additional rooms was constructed adjacent to the Palais des Sports, enabling the city to host the Afrobasket 2013 tournament. Today, the Palais des Sports continues to be a dynamic and exciting place to experience the energy of Abidjan.
