Getting there

Walking

Škor Square is located in the heart of Stari Grad, easily accessible on foot from most points in the town. From the Stari Grad bus station, walk towards the town center, following signs to Trg Veli Škor. The walk is approximately 10 minutes. From Tvrdalj Palace, walk east along the waterfront, then turn inland towards the town center. The square will be on your left. No costs involved.

Public Transport

If arriving by ferry to Stari Grad, take the local bus from the ferry terminal to Stari Grad town center. The bus ride is short, and the bus stop in Stari Grad is located a short walk from Škor Square. The bus fare is around 10 kn. Alternatively, from Hvar town, take a bus to Stari Grad. Upon arrival at Stari Grad bus station, walk towards the town center and follow the signs to Škor Square.

Taxi

Taxis are available in Stari Grad, especially near the ferry terminal and bus station. A taxi ride from the Stari Grad ferry terminal to Škor Square will cost approximately 50-70 kn. Ensure the meter is running or negotiate the fare beforehand.

Škor Square, or Trg Veli Škor, is the most picturesque of Stari Grad's many little squares. This charming square was created during the 17th and 18th centuries from what was once a shallow stretch of water and a shipyard. The name 'Škor' comes from the Dalmatian word 'škver,' meaning shipyard.Škor Square is surrounded by characteristic Dalmatian workers' houses featuring picturesque luminaries (skylights) and sulars (stone terraces with stairs). The architecture reflects Renaissance, Baroque, and folk styles, making it a protected cultural site.Today, Škor Square serves as a social hub and a venue for summer cultural events, including concerts, poetry readings, and wine tastings. Visitors can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, admire the architecture, and experience the local culture at cafes and shops.
