Lookout Tower Dobrá Voda: Panoramic Views of Šumava

The Lookout Tower Dobrá Voda, a relatively new addition to the Czech Republic's landscape of observation points, has quickly become a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and sightseers. Rising above the town of Horní Planá on the left bank of Lake Lipno, the 37-meter-tall tower offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area, including the upper reaches of Lake Lipno, the Boletice military zone, and the peaks of the Šumava Mountains, such as Smrčina and Třístoličník. On clear days, it's even possible to catch a glimpse of the Alps. The tower's design, with its metal structure, is said to be inspired by the region's glassmaking history. Visitors can ascend the 169 steps to reach the viewing platforms, with two accessible floors offering varied perspectives of the landscape. The climb is manageable for families with children and seniors, though some may find the narrow, spiral staircase a bit challenging. Benches are strategically placed along the way, providing resting spots for a leisurely hike. Located in the Adalbert Stifter Forest Park, the Lookout Tower Dobrá Voda is easily accessible from the main road. The surrounding area offers additional attractions, including a church, a statue of Adalbert Stifter, and a peaceful reserve where deer graze. The tower is open year-round during daylight hours and admission is free, making it an ideal destination for any time of year. In the past, the site was home to a circular sheltered space with benches called "Paraplíčko," where people gathered after church services. Today, the tower stands as a testament to human ingenuity and a harmonious addition to the natural environment.
