Discover more about Can-Do Playground

Can-Do Playground is a unique and thoughtfully designed play space located within Alapocas Run State Park in Wilmington, Delaware. Opened in 2007, the playground distinguishes itself as the first Boundless Playground™ in Delaware, created with the vision of providing an inclusive play environment for children of all abilities. The playground spans 27,000 square feet and features a variety of play structures and sensory experiences designed to engage children with diverse physical, mental, and sensory abilities. These include accessible play surfaces, ramps, adaptive swings, a dedicated toddler area, a large sandpit, and sensory exploration stations. Shaded play areas and a storybook trail add to the playground's appeal, making it a welcoming space for families to spend time together. Can-Do Playground was conceived in the early 2000s by a group of Rotary clubs in the Wilmington area. Recognizing a lack of accessible playgrounds in Delaware for children with disabilities, they partnered with the state Division of Parks and Recreation and the National Center for Boundless Playgrounds to bring their vision to life. The playground is maintained through an endowment and continues to be a valuable community asset.
