Can-Do Playground, nestled within Alapocas Run State Park in Wilmington, Delaware, is a groundbreaking space where play knows no bounds. Opened in 2007, this 27,000-square-foot playground was meticulously designed to be accessible to children of all abilities, whether physical, mental, or sensory. It stands as Delaware's first Boundless Playground™, a testament to inclusive play environments. The playground features a wide array of sensory-rich experiences, including swings with infant, standard, and full-support options, slides of varying heights and widths, and climbing structures. A dedicated toddler area ensures the youngest visitors have a safe and engaging space. The accessible play surface and wide ramps allow easy navigation for wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Nature trails and picnic areas surround the playground, making it a popular destination for families seeking a fun-filled day in a peaceful setting. Beyond recreation, Can-Do Playground fosters crucial developmental skills. It promotes physical activity, coordination, and social interaction among children of all abilities. The Can-Do Playground was made possible through the collaboration of six Wilmington-area Rotary Clubs, the state Division of Parks & Recreation, and the National Center for Boundless Playgrounds.
