Walking
From the core of Østerbro, it’s a leisurely 15–25 minute stroll south through leafy avenues and along the edges of Østre Anlæg park. You’ll pass grand historic buildings before the castle comes into view, rising beyond the gardens’ hedge-lined walkways. The castle is easily approachable on foot, and there’s no cost for walking this scenic route.
Public Transport
Buses and S-trains run frequently from popular Østerbro stops towards Nørreport Station, the city’s main public transport hub. From Nørreport, Rosenborg Castle is a prominent landmark a few minutes’ walk through the King’s Garden, well signposted along pedestrian paths. Standard adult public transport fare within the city is typically 24–30 DKK.
Taxi
A taxi from central Østerbro to Rosenborg Castle is a straightforward, short ride—typically 5–10 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. Fares usually range from 70 to 120 DKK. Taxis can drop guests close to the castle entrance, but note that access roads can become busy, especially during weekends and holidays.
Driving/Parking
If arriving by car, there is limited metered parking available in the streets surrounding the castle and King’s Garden. Expect rates around 24–38 DKK per hour, with higher demand during weekends and holidays. No dedicated parking lot exists for the castle, and much of the nearby area is pedestrianized, so it’s wise to allow extra time to find a spot.
