If you're driving from Arta, start by heading east on the main road towards Djibouti City. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for the sign that indicates the turnoff towards Lac 'Assal. This will be a smaller road leading south. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers, and you will start to see signs for Lac 'Assal. The road may become less maintained, so drive carefully. Upon arrival, you will find designated parking areas.

To reach Lac 'Assal using public transport, take a shared taxi (called 'taxi-brousse') from Arta to Djibouti City. The fare is around 500 DJF (Djiboutian Francs). Once in Djibouti City, you can find shared taxis heading towards Lac 'Assal. The fare for this leg is approximately 1000 DJF. Be sure to confirm with the driver that they are going to Lac 'Assal before getting in. Note that the last shared taxi may leave in the early afternoon, so plan your trip accordingly.
