The resort is approximately an hour's drive from both Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) and the capital city of Roseau. Originally part of the Rosalie Estate, one of Dominica's largest estates, the area has a rich history tied to the island's colonial past and agricultural development, producing sugar, cocoa, limes, bananas, and coconuts. In December 1785, the estate witnessed a Maroon attack led by Chief Balla, and in 1838, the enslaved population celebrated full emancipation. The resort was established in 2000 by Beverly Deikle, with a vision of vintage-style architecture where people could reconnect with nature. The resort is set within a 28-acre private nature reserve, home to diverse species of birds, plants, and wildlife. Rosalie Bay is a nesting site for endangered sea turtles, and the resort's conservation program has safely released over 15,000 hatchlings into the wild since its inception. Guests can witness this event from March to October. The resort generates 100% of its electricity using a micro-hydro system powered by the Rosalie River and solar power. The pool is designed with nature in mind and is lined with Onyx, a black and white banded silica mineral known for its heat absorbent property. Rosalie Bay Eco Resort & Spa offers comfortable amenities to enhance any stay. These include spa treatments, organic cuisine at the restaurant, a refreshing pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. Guests can explore Dominica with guided nature tours or relax by the black sand beach.
