Experience La Laguna del Diablo

Getting There

  • Car

    From the main town of Samaná, head south on Route 5 (Carretera Samaná). Continue for about 20 km (approximately 30 minutes) until you reach the fork in the road where you will keep left onto Route 6 towards Las Galeras. After about 10 km, you’ll come across a sign for La Laguna del Diablo. Turn left onto the dirt road leading to the lake. Note that the last part of the road may be bumpy, so proceed with caution. Make sure to park at the designated area and walk towards the lagoon, which is about a 15-minute walk from the parking area.

  • Public Transportation

    Start in Samaná town and take a local 'guagua' (minibus) heading towards Las Galeras. The fare is usually around 50 Dominican Pesos. Inform the driver that you want to stop at the entrance to La Laguna del Diablo. Once you get off, you may need to walk approximately 3 km (about 30 to 40 minutes) along the dirt road to reach the lagoon. Alternatively, you can hire a local motorcycle taxi (motoconcho) for around 200 to 300 Dominican Pesos to take you directly to the lagoon entrance.
