Car
From Riobamba, take the E35 highway heading south. After approximately 25 kilometers, turn left onto the road that leads to the Chimborazo National Park. Follow the signs to the Park entrance. Once at the entrance, pay the entrance fee (approximately $2 USD). Continue along the main road through the park until you reach the parking area for the Edward Whymper Refuge. The refuge is located about 5 kilometers from the parking area, and you will need to hike this distance. The trail is well-marked and takes around 1-2 hours to reach the refuge.

Public Transportation
From Riobamba, take a bus to the town of Achupallas. Buses depart regularly from the main bus terminal in Riobamba. The fare is around $1.50 USD and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Achupallas, you can either hire a local taxi to take you to the Chimborazo National Park entrance (around $10 USD), or you can start walking toward the park (approximately 8 kilometers). After entering the park, pay the entrance fee (approximately $2 USD) and continue to the parking area for the Edward Whymper Refuge, which is about a 5-kilometer hike from there.
