Getting there

Public Bus

From Loja, head to the main bus terminal (Terminal Terrestre de Loja). Once there, look for buses heading to Vilcabamba. The trip takes about 40-50 minutes. Once you arrive in Vilcabamba, get off at the main square (Plaza Central de Vilcabamba).

Walking

From the main square in Vilcabamba, walk towards the road 'Sendero Cascada El PALTO'. It is approximately a 30-minute walk from the square. Follow the signs towards the waterfall; you will be walking along a scenic path that will eventually lead you to the entrance of the Cascada El Palto trail. Look for a sign indicating the start of the trail, which is about 2 kilometers from the main square.

Local Taxi

After reaching the main square in Vilcabamba, you can also choose to take a local taxi to the trailhead of Cascada El Palto. Taxis are usually available around the square, and the ride should take about 10 minutes. Negotiate the fare in advance; it should be relatively inexpensive.
