From Macas, head south on the E45 highway towards Sucúa. Continue on this highway for approximately 30 km, following signs to Parque Nacional Sangay. You will see signs directing you to Laguna Amarilla. The last part of the journey will require you to take a dirt road that leads into the park; be cautious as the road may be rough. Upon entering the park, follow the signs to 'Camping Laguna Amarilla'. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for unpaved roads.

From Macas, you can take a bus heading towards Sucúa. Buses leave frequently from the central bus terminal. Inform the driver that you are going to Parque Nacional Sangay; they will drop you off at the nearest point to the park entrance. From there, you will need to arrange for a local taxi or hitch a ride with a passing vehicle to reach the camping area at Laguna Amarilla. Make sure to bring enough cash for the taxi fare, which can vary but is typically around $10-$15.
