Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, from the town of Tena in Napo Region, head west on the E20 highway towards Quito. After about 30 km, take the exit toward the E28 road. Follow the E28 for about 5 km until you reach the entrance to Yanacocha Biological Reserve, which is located at approximately VCQ8+832, Unnamed Road. There is a parking area available at the reserve.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Yanacocha Biological Reserve using public transportation, take a bus from Tena to Quito. Once in Quito, you will need to take another bus from the central terminal to the La Esperanza area. From La Esperanza, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus towards the Yanacocha Biological Reserve. Make sure to inform the driver of your destination, as not all buses may go directly to the reserve.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  For a more direct route, you can hire a taxi or use a rideshare service from Quito to Yanacocha Biological Reserve. The trip will take approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. Be prepared to negotiate the fare if you're using a taxi. The cost may vary but typically ranges from $30 to $50.

• Walking or Hiking

  If you are staying nearby in the surrounding areas, you may consider walking or hiking to the reserve. Ensure you are well-equipped with maps and GPS tools, as trails can be challenging. It's advisable to start early in the day to allow ample time for exploration.
