These natural formations, located a 30-minute drive from Mera on the road to Colonia 24 de Mayo, offer an unforgettable subterranean experience.Under the supervision of a local guide, explore the caves' narrow passages and grand chambers, marveling at the intricate stalactites and stalagmites that adorn the interior. Keep an eye out for the 'Copa del Mundo' (World Cup), a remarkable stalagmite shaped like the famous soccer trophy. The caves also provide shelter for various species, including bats, birds, insects, and small crustaceans.The area surrounding the caves boasts lush rainforest vegetation, offering opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. The caves maintain an average temperature of 20°C (68°F). Note that the terrain can be challenging, and the tour is not recommended for individuals with disabilities, older adults, or children under 8 years old.

Getting There
Taxi/Car
From Puyo, take a taxi or drive towards Mera. Once in Mera, follow the road to Colonia 24 de Mayo. The journey from Mera to the caves is approximately 30 minutes on a secondary road. If you don't have your own vehicle, you can rent a pickup truck in the central park of Mera. A round trip will cost about $20.
Walking
From the parking area, follow the marked trail to the cave entrance. The hike to the caves involves some walking through the jungle, so wear appropriate footwear. The trail can be slippery and muddy, especially after rain.
