Cimitero Nefermenul: A Hidden Gem of Luxor's Ancient Heritage

Getting There

• Walking

  From Luxor city center, head towards the Luxor Temple. Once you reach the temple, continue straight on the main road (Corniche). Walk along the Corniche until you reach the intersection with Al-Mahdi Street. Take a left on Al-Mahdi Street and walk until you reach the main junction. At this junction, you will see signs pointing towards the Valley of the Kings and the West Bank ferry terminal. From here, take the ferry across the Nile River to the West Bank (the ferry runs frequently and costs a small fee). After disembarking, follow the signs towards the Valley of the Kings. As you walk, keep an eye out for local signs indicating Cimitero Nefermenul, which is located nearby in the El-Khokha area, just a short walk from the ferry terminal.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Luxor city center. Start your journey by cycling towards the Luxor Temple. Once you reach the temple, continue straight along the Corniche. After about 2 kilometers, turn left onto Al-Mahdi Street. Continue cycling until you reach the junction leading to the Valley of the Kings. There, you can park your bicycle and take the ferry across the Nile River. After crossing, you can walk to Cimitero Nefermenul, which is situated near the Valley of the Kings.

• Public Transport

  You can take a local microbus or minibus from Luxor city center to the West Bank. Look for a bus marked 'West Bank' at the bus station or along the main roads. The fare is very affordable. Once you arrive on the West Bank, ask the driver to drop you off near the Valley of the Kings. From there, you can walk in the direction of Cimitero Nefermenul, which is located nearby in the El-Khokha area.
