Discover more about Necropoli (cimitero) tomba di Neferrenpet

The Tomb of Neferrenpet (TT178) is situated in the El-Khokha area of the Theban Necropolis, on the West Bank of Luxor. This location is part of a hillock and valley that separates El-Asasif from Sheikh Abd el-Qurna. Neferrenpet, also known as Kenro, was a scribe of the treasury in the Estate of the Temple of Amun-Re during the reign of Ramesses II. The tomb itself is cut into the square wall of a small hillside, a few hundred meters west of the funerary temple of Tuthmosis III. TT178 shares a courtyard with the tombs of Nefersekheru (TT 296) and Nefermenu (TT 365). The tomb contains two small chambers with decorated walls featuring scenes laid out in unusually low registers; some are less than 20 centimeters high. These scenes often wrap around corners and continue along several walls, a unique feature also found in the tomb of Khonsu (TT 31). The ceilings are elaborately decorated with geometric designs. While the workmanship in Neferrenpet's tomb is considered fair, with hastily drawn and poorly proportioned figures, it is still worth visiting. The tomb provides information about the Treasury of the Temple of Amun-Re and emphasizes religious topics. The tomb is open to the public from 6 am to 4 pm in winter, and tickets can be purchased at the gate for EGP 25.
