2 Days Awash National Park

An Amazing 2-Day Awash National Park Experience

We had a wonderful 2-day trip to Awash National Park with Danakil Depression Tours, and it was a great experience from beginning to end. The whole trip was well organized, relaxed, and gave us a chance to see a very different side of Ethiopia away from the busy cities. Our guide, Yohans, was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a good experience. He explained the wildlife, landscape, and local area very clearly and was always happy to answer our questions. We never felt rushed, and he gave us plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and look for wildlife. Our driver, Melaku, was also fantastic. He drove carefully and patiently, especially on the park roads, and was very good at spotting interesting places and wildlife along the way. His friendly attitude made the long drives much more enjoyable. One of the highlights was exploring the spectacular landscapes around Awash National Park, including the Awash River and Awash Falls. The scenery was beautiful, with open savannah, rocky landscapes, and plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing. We also enjoyed seeing birds and other animals in their natural environment. The two-day itinerary was a good balance of driving, sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and relaxing. Everything was handled smoothly, and we felt well taken care of throughout the trip. A special thank you to Yohans and Melaku for making the experience so enjoyable, and to Danakil Depression Tours for organizing everything so well. We would happily recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience Awash National Park with a knowledgeable guide and a reliable driver.

5 Day Addis,Bahir Dar,Gondar,Simien Mountains and Lalibela Tours

5 Days Exploring Northern Ethiopia

We booked a 5-day tour through northern Ethiopia with Danakil Depression Tours, visiting Bahir Dar, Gondar, the Simien Mountains and Lalibela. We knew beforehand that trying to see all these places in five days would make the trip quite busy, but we wanted to see as much as possible during our time in Ethiopia. We started in Bahir Dar and spent time around Lake Tana and the historic sites in the area. It was a nice introduction to the region, and we enjoyed seeing a quieter side of Ethiopia before moving on. From Bahir Dar we continued to Gondar. The old royal compound and historic churches were interesting, and our guide gave us background about the history instead of just taking us from one place to another. We enjoyed having the explanations because otherwise it would have been difficult to understand the importance of some of the sites. The Simien Mountains were probably the biggest surprise of the trip. The scenery is beautiful, with huge valleys and dramatic cliffs. We also saw gelada monkeys, which was something we were really hoping to see. The weather was a little unpredictable while we were there, but it actually made the mountains look even more dramatic at times. Then we headed to Lalibela. Seeing the rock-hewn churches in person was very different from seeing them in pictures. Walking between the churches and seeing how they were carved into the rock was one of the moments that really stayed with us. We also appreciated having a guide who could explain the history and religious significance of the sites. Because we were covering four destinations in only five days, there was quite a lot of driving and some early starts. It was definitely tiring at times, but we expected that when we chose this itinerary. The advantage was that we got to experience several very different parts of northern Ethiopia in one trip. One thing that made the trip easier was Mickey, the owner of Danakil Depression Tours. From the first time we contacted him, he was very fast with his replies. Whenever we had a question, we usually didn't have to wait long for an answer. More importantly, he continued to follow up with us throughout the tour, rather than just arranging everything and leaving us on our own. There were a few small changes and practical things to sort out along the way, as can happen on a busy trip, but it was reassuring knowing that we could contact Mickey and get a quick response. Overall, it was a busy but rewarding five days. Bahir Dar, Gondar, the Simien Mountains and Lalibela each offered something completely different, from Lake Tana and Ethiopian history to mountain landscapes and the incredible churches of Lalibela. A big thank you to Mickey and the team for organizing everything and, especially, for the quick communication and follow-up before and during our trip. That personal attention made a real difference to our experience.

10 Days Addis Danakil lalibela and omo valley

Thank you to the whole team for the great memories!

We recently spent 10 days traveling around Ethiopia with Danakil Depression Tours, and it was honestly one of the most interesting trips we have ever done. We wanted to see very different parts of Ethiopia, so we chose an itinerary that included Lalibela, the Danakil Depression, Abune Yemata and the Omo Valley. It was a busy trip, but everything was well organized and we never felt lost or unsure about what was happening next. We started in Lalibela, and the rock-hewn churches were incredible to see in person. Photos really don't show how impressive they are. Our guide took us around the different churches and explained the history and religious significance without making the tour feel like a history lecture. We also had time to walk around and enjoy the town. Then came the Danakil Depression, which was probably the most unusual part of the trip. The heat was intense and some of the roads were definitely rough, but that's part of the adventure. Seeing the salt landscape, Lake Assale and the strange colors and formations around Dallol was something completely different from anything we had seen before. Camping in such a remote place was also an experience we will remember. We then traveled to the Gheralta Mountains to visit Abune Yemata. We knew beforehand that the climb would be difficult, but it was still more challenging than we expected! There are some steep and exposed sections, so you need to be comfortable with heights. Our local guide was very patient and helped us along the way. When we finally reached the church and saw where it was built into the cliff, it was absolutely worth the effort. The last part of the trip was the Omo Valley, where we visited Hamer, Karo and Mursi communities. This was very different again. We enjoyed seeing how people live, their traditional clothing, houses, farming and daily activities. Having local guides with us helped us understand what we were seeing instead of simply arriving, taking photos and leaving. One thing we really appreciated was how the team handled all the logistics. This was not an easy itinerary because we were traveling through very different and remote parts of Ethiopia, but the flights, vehicles, hotels, meals and local guides were all arranged for us. There were definitely some long drives, early mornings, heat and uncomfortable roads during the trip, but we expected that when we chose this itinerary. For us, those things were part of the experience rather than a problem. The guides and drivers were friendly and we felt well looked after throughout the 10 days. Whenever something needed to be changed or adjusted, the team helped us sort it out. A big thank you to everyone at Danakil Depression Tours for making the trip such a memorable experience. Ethiopia has so much variety, and in just 10 days we saw places that felt completely different from one another. If you are looking for a trip that combines history, adventure, incredible landscapes and different cultures, we would definitely recommend this itinerary. Thank you to the whole team for the great memories! 🇪🇹❤️
