If you are starting from Lalibela's main market area, head south on the main road (Lalibela Road) towards the entrance of the town. Continue straight for about 500 meters until you reach a fork in the road. At the fork, take the left path that leads uphill. Follow this path for about 200 meters until you see signs pointing towards Bete Medhane Alem. The church is situated on the left side of the path, about 100 meters further up. Look for the iconic rock-hewn entrance, and you will know you have arrived.

From the Lalibela Airport, exit towards the main road. Turn left and walk approximately 1.5 kilometers downhill on the main road until you reach the main market area. From there, follow the previous instructions to reach Bete Medhane Alem. This route provides a scenic view of the surrounding landscape.
