Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Lalibela town center, head north on the main road (Unnamed Road) towards the direction of the Rock-Hewn Churches. Walk past the Lalibela Hotel and continue along the road for about 15-20 minutes. You will see signs directing you towards the churches. As you approach, you will notice the entrance gate to the churches on your left.

    From the Lalibela Airport, exit the airport and follow the dirt road leading to the main highway. Once you reach the main road, turn right and walk approximately 1.5 kilometers towards the town center. From there, follow the same directions as mentioned above towards the Rock-Hewn Churches.

    If you are staying at the Maribela Hotel, exit the hotel and turn left onto the main road. Continue walking straight for about 10 minutes until you reach a fork in the road.
