If you are starting from the center of Mekele, head north on Abay Road towards the main market area. Continue walking straight for about 10-15 minutes until you reach the junction where the road splits. Turn left onto Amba Street and walk another 5-10 minutes. The Emperor Yohannes IV Palace Museum will be on your right side. Look for a large building with historical architecture; it should be easily recognizable.

From the center of Mekele, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops. Head north on Abay Road, cycling for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the main market area.
