If you are starting from the center of Mekele, head towards the main market area known as 'Merkato'. From the market, walk north along 'Hawelti Road' (known locally as 'Kebele 01 Street'). Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach 'Mekele University'. Once you reach the university, take a left turn onto 'Hawelti Street'. The museum is located about 500 meters down on your right side. Look for the signs indicating 'Atse Yohannes IV Museum'.

If you are near the 'Mekele Cathedral', exit the cathedral grounds and walk down 'Church Street' towards 'Hawelti Road'. Turn right onto 'Hawelti Road' and continue north. After about 1.5 km, you will see 'Mekele University' on your left. Turn left onto 'Hawelti Street' after passing the university. The museum will be on your right side shortly after.

From the 'Bus Station' in Mekele, exit the station and head towards 'Hawelti Road'. Turn left onto 'Hawelti Road' and walk straight for about 2 km. You will pass local shops and cafes along the way. Look for 'Mekele University' on your right, and shortly after, take a right onto 'Hawelti Street'. The museum will be on your right after a short walk.
