Discover more about Múlafossur Waterfall

Múlafossur Waterfall is a majestic cascade located beside the tiny village of Gásadalur on the island of Vágar in the Faroe Islands. With its dramatic plunge into the ocean and the backdrop of traditional Faroese houses, it's no wonder that Múlafossur is one of the most photographed locations in the archipelago. Until 2004, Gásadalur was one of the most isolated settlements in the Faroe Islands, accessible only by a challenging hike over the mountains. The construction of the Gásadalstunnilin tunnel dramatically changed access, making it easy to reach by car or bus. The waterfall itself drops approximately 30 meters (98 feet) into the sea. The best views are from a designated viewpoint a short walk from the village. On windy days, the water can be seen rising up into the air, creating an even more spectacular display. The surrounding landscape, with its vibrant green fields and towering mountains, enhances the beauty of the falls. While visiting Múlafossur, take some time to explore the village of Gásadalur. With only a handful of houses, it offers a glimpse into traditional Faroese life. There's a café where you can enjoy local food and beverages. You can also hike up the hill to spot puffins during the summer season.
