Discover more about Múlafossur Waterfall

Múlafossur Waterfall is a stunning natural attraction in the Faroe Islands, drawing visitors with its beauty and tranquil setting. Situated in Gásadalur, a remote village on Vágar Island, the waterfall plunges from a cliff directly into the Atlantic Ocean, offering a mesmerizing view. Gásadalur, meaning "Goose Valley," was once isolated, accessible only by boat, a challenging hike over the mountains, or helicopter. In 2004, a tunnel was constructed, connecting the village to the rest of the island by road. This improved accessibility has allowed more people to witness the beauty of Múlafossur. The waterfall itself isn't massive, but its setting is what makes it special. The water cascades down approximately 30 meters (100 feet) into the sea. During windy conditions, the water can be seen blowing upwards, adding to the spectacle. The village of Gásadalur, with its small population, adds to the charm of the scene. Visitors can park near the village and take a short walk to the designated viewing point. The path is well-maintained, but sturdy footwear is recommended due to potentially uneven surfaces. From the viewpoint, you can see the waterfall, the village, and the island of Mykines in the distance.
