Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards Hossa National Park from your starting point. Once you arrive at Hossa, follow the signs leading to Lumontie. Specifically, you will take Route 5 (E63) towards Suomussalmi. After about 50 kilometers, take the exit toward Hossa. Continue on Hossantie, then turn left onto Lumontie. Camping Hossan Lumo will be located at Lumontie 3, 89920 Ruhtinansalmi, just off the main road.

• Public Transport

  For those using public transportation, take a bus to Suomussalmi from major cities like Oulu or Kajaani. Upon arrival in Suomussalmi, you will need to take a local taxi service to reach Camping Hossan Lumo, as public transport options to Ruhtinansalmi are limited. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and could cost around €40-€60. Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary seasonally.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and are already within Hossa National Park, consider biking to Camping Hossan Lumo. There are well-marked bike trails throughout the park. Start on the main trails heading towards Lumontie, and follow the signs to reach the campsite. It is about a 10 km bike ride from the main visitor center in Hossa, which should take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your pace.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy hiking, you can walk to Camping Hossan Lumo from the Hossa Visitor Center. Take the scenic trails through the park, which will lead you to Lumontie. This is about a 10 km trek and will take approximately 2-3 hours. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry enough water, especially during the warmer months.
