Varisköngäs is a stunning 11-meter-high waterfall located near Suomussalmi, Finland, in the Kainuu region. Easily accessible via a short, marked trail, it offers picturesque views, especially during the spring floods, surrounded by a beautiful coniferous forest.

Driving
From the center of Suomussalmi, drive approximately 9 km towards Puolanka. Take Kyröntie road (892) for about 7 km and turn left onto Aittokoskentie. Continue for about 1.5 km; a small parking lot will be on the right. From the parking lot, follow the marked 300-meter path to the waterfall. Parking is free. Note that there is no winter maintenance on Aittokoskentie.
Walking
During the snow-free months, you can hike to Varisköngäs via the Varisjärvi hiking trail. The trail starts behind the Kiannon Kuohut Spa Hotel in Suomussalmi and is approximately 30 km long. Follow the marked trail. This option is free, but requires a significant time commitment and good physical condition.
