Vuokatti Hill: Scenic Views and Outdoor Adventures

Vuokatti Hill (Vuokatinvaara) is a prominent landmark in the Vuokatti region of Finland, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the stunning natural beauty of the Finnish Lakeland. Rising to a height of 326 meters, the hill provides panoramic views of the surrounding blue lakes, green forests, and rolling hills, a vista often cited as one of Finland's national landscapes.The hill is composed of Iso-Pölly, Pieni-Pölly and Keima. The viewpoint at Iso-Pölly is accessible by car, making it easy for visitors of all abilities to reach and enjoy the scenery during the snow-free season.Vuokatti Hill is a hub for outdoor activities throughout the year. Versatile marked hiking trails wind through the area, inviting exploration of the diverse nature. These trails are maintained by the Sotkamo municipality and feature fireplaces for休憩. Every September, Vuokatti hosts Finland's oldest hiking event, Vuokatin Vaellus, which traverses the 13 hills of the Vuokatti fell line.In addition to its natural beauty, Vuokatti Hill has a rich history in winter sports. The area is home to ski jumping hills, with the first 70-meter hill opening in 1947. In 1992, the 90-meter ski jumping hill hosted the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships. Today, the ski jumping facility is used by many teams for winter season preparation. Vuokatti also has a ski tunnel, allowing for year-round cross-country skiing.
