    From the Ruka Ski Resort area, follow the well-marked trails towards Valtavaara hill. The Valtavaara Campfire Shelter is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the nearest access point. Ensure you have a map or GPS to stay on the designated hiking paths.

  • Public Transport

    Take a bus from Kuusamo to Ruka. From Ruka, walk approximately 2 kilometers to the Valtavaara trailhead. The bus trip from Kuusamo to Ruka takes about 30 minutes. Check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary seasonally.

  • Taxi

    From Kuusamo Airport or city center, a taxi can take you to Ruka. From Ruka, it is still necessary to walk or take another taxi to the Valtavaara trailhead. A taxi from Kuusamo Airport to Ruka costs approximately €80-€100. A 5km taxi ride in Kuusamo generally costs about €12.5.
