Getting There

  • Public Transport

    To reach Nuuksio Reindeer Park from Helsinki, take commuter train U, E, or L from Helsinki Central Station to Espoo Center. From Espoo Center, take bus 245(A) towards Nuuksio. Get off at the Punjonsuo bus stop, which is two stops after the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia. From the bus stop, walk approximately 400 meters forward and turn right immediately after the pedestrian crossing. The Reindeer Park is signposted from the junction. A single ABC zone ticket is required for the journey, costing approximately €5. Note that bus 245(A) runs infrequently, so check the schedules in advance.

  • Driving

    If driving from Helsinki, the journey to Nuuksio Reindeer Park takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Exit the Turku Motorway (Route 1) at the IKEA junction. At the second traffic light, turn left towards Veikkola, drive under the Ring Road III underpass, and continue on Nupurintie (Route 110). After about 5 km, turn right following the signs for Nuuksio/Solvalla. Continue on Nuuksiontie until you reach Nuuksiontie 83. Limited parking is available at the Reindeer Park. A larger parking area is located in front of the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia, about 1 km before the Reindeer Park. Parking is free.

  • Walking

    From the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia, you can walk to Nuuksio Reindeer Park by following the orange-marked nature trail in the direction of Haukkalampi. When you reach Nuuksiontie, turn right and then immediately right again up to the yard. The nature trail is approximately 1.5 km long. This walk takes around 20 minutes. There are no costs associated with walking.

This family-owned park is home to a herd of friendly Icelandic reindeer, known for their gentle demeanor. Visitors can interact with these beautiful creatures, feeding them lichen and learning about their habits and the significance they hold in Finnish culture. The park is designed to resemble a traditional Sami village, showcasing authentic wooden structures and informative displays about the Sami way of life and their deep connection to nature. In addition to meeting the reindeer, visitors can relax and enjoy traditional Finnish treats at the cozy café. On weekends, the park offers special programs and events for all ages. Nuuksio Reindeer Park is more than just an animal encounter; it's a chance to immerse yourself in Finnish wildlife and culture. The park was established in December 2013, when the first reindeer arrived from Lapland. Today, the park is home to six reindeer: Usva (male, born in 2018), Taika, Lumi, Nella (born in 2013), Tähti (born in 2016), and Helmi (born in 2020). Visitors can also dig for their own raw amethyst in the amethyst mining shed. The raw amethysts have been ecologically mined in Lapland.
