Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Helsinki Central Railway Station, take a commuter train (Y, X, U, L, or E) to Espoo Center. From Espoo Center, take bus 245 or 245A towards Kattila. Get off at the Haukkalammentie stop; from there, it's a 2km walk to the Haukkalampi parking area and the start of the Punarinnankierros Trail. A single bus ticket within Espoo costs around €3.00.

  • Driving

    From Helsinki, drive along Highway 1 (Helsinki-Turku) and exit onto Road 110/Hista, turning left. After about 1km, turn left onto Brobackantie road and drive for approximately 10km, passing the Finnish Nature Center Haltia. Turn left onto Haukkalammentie, a narrow unpaved road, and continue for 2km to reach the public parking area near Hawk Nest. Parking is free, but the Haukkalampi parking area can be crowded, especially on weekends. There are 94 parking spaces at the large parking area and 15 spaces at the small parking area.

  • Walking

    From the Finnish Nature Center Haltia, you can hike the connecting trail (4.6 km one way) to Haukkalampi. Follow the orange-black diamond markings. This scenic route offers a longer approach through the national park. Haltia has ample parking, providing an alternative if Haukkalampi parking is full. Parking at Haltia is free.

One of the highlights is Mustalampi (Black Pond), known for its floating peat rafts, a unique sight created when peat moss detached from the surrounding mire in the 1950s. A cooking shelter and campfire site are located near Mustalampi, offering a perfect spot for a scenic break. The trail also passes Valklampi (White Pond), where you can enjoy wilderness-like views along the rugged shoreline.
