The forest boasts approximately 15 kilometers of marked trails, inviting visitors to explore its natural beauty on foot. Hiking through Riuttaskorpi, you'll encounter the prominent north-south oriented moraine ridge of Pitkäkangas, small lakes, and rushing rapids. The waterway running through the area has historically been used for timber floating, and remnants of old timber floating structures can still be seen today. Keep an eye out for the Haukijärvi cooking shelter, Suutarilankoski lean-to shelter, and Kuttulammi cooking shelter along the trails. Historically, Riuttaskorpi has been relatively sparsely populated, primarily known for log floating and its white waters powering mills. The area is also said to have inspired Johan Ludvig Runeberg, a Finnish poet, to write the tale of the traveler's vision in The Tales of Ensign Stål. Today, Riuttaskorpi is ideal for day trips and overnight excursions.
