Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the Pyhä-Luosto National Park Visitor Centre located at Luostontie 1, 99555 Pyhätunturi. Drive north on Luostontie for about 13 kilometers. You will see signs for Pelkosenniemi. Continue until you reach a junction where you turn right onto the road leading to Karhunjuomalampi. Follow this road for approximately 4 kilometers until you reach the parking area near Karhunjuomalampi. Be aware that parking may have a small fee, usually around 5 euros for a day.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from the Pyhä-Luosto area to Pelkosenniemi. You can catch the bus from the Pyhä-Luosto Visitor Centre. Make sure to check the local bus schedule for the most accurate times. Once you arrive in Pelkosenniemi, you will need to take a taxi to Karhunjuomalampi, which is about 4 kilometers away. Taxi fares can vary but generally cost around 10-15 euros. Note that public transport options may be limited, especially during off-peak seasons, so plan accordingly.

• Hiking

  If you prefer an adventurous approach, consider hiking to Karhunjuomalampi from the nearest hiking trails in Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Start at the Pyhä-Luosto Visitor Centre and take the marked hiking trail towards Pelkosenniemi. This route will take you through beautiful forest landscapes and is approximately 8 kilometers long, which should take about 2-3 hours to hike. Ensure you're equipped with proper hiking gear, water, and snacks, as this route is more physically demanding.
