Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from anywhere in Captiva Island, head east on Captiva Drive until you reach the intersection with Sanibel-Captiva Road. Turn left onto Sanibel-Captiva Road. Continue on this road for about 5 miles. The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium will be on your right at 3075 Sanibel Captiva Rd, Sanibel, FL 33957. Parking is available on-site, and there is no fee for parking.

  • Public Transportation

    For public transportation, you can take the LeeTran bus service (Route 240) which operates between Captiva Island and Sanibel. Board the bus at the nearest stop in Captiva. The bus will take you across the bridge to Sanibel. Once you arrive at Sanibel, you will need to walk approximately 1 mile to the museum. Head east on Periwinkle Way until you reach Sanibel-Captiva Road, then turn left. The museum will be on your right. Please check the current bus schedule for operating times and fares.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle in Captiva. Head east on Captiva Drive, then take Sanibel-Captiva Road heading east towards the museum.
