Getting There

  • Bicycle

    From anywhere in Cape Coral, head towards the Cape Coral Parkway and follow it west until you reach the bridge to Fort Myers. Cross the bridge, and once you reach Fort Myers, continue on McGregor Blvd heading south. Stay on McGregor Blvd until you reach the Sanibel Causeway. Cross the Causeway and continue straight until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit onto Wildlife Drive, and the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge will be on your left.

  • Public Bus

    Locate the nearest bus stop for LeeTran (the public transit system). Take the Route 50 bus towards the Fort Myers area. Get off at the bus stop near the Sanibel Causeway. From there, you can either walk or rent a bike to reach the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Continue across the Sanibel Causeway, and take a left onto Wildlife Drive upon entering Sanibel Island. The refuge entrance will be on your left.

  • Walking

    If you are staying near the waterfront, walk towards the Cape Coral Yacht Club and take the path leading toward the bridge. Walk across the bridge to Fort Myers, which will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Once you reach Fort Myers, continue walking on McGregor Blvd until you reach the Sanibel Causeway. Cross the Causeway, and you can either continue walking or rent a bike from a local rental service to reach the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Wildlife Drive.
