Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from the center of St. Augustine, head south on US-1 S for about 1.5 miles. Merge onto FL-312 E and continue for about 3 miles. Turn right onto A1A S (A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway). The Historical Marker will be on your right at 859-891 A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway. There is no parking fee in the immediate area but be mindful of any local parking regulations.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach the Historical Marker via public transportation, take the St. Johns County Public Transportation (SJCT) bus service. Board the Route 3 bus towards Anastasia Island at the nearest bus stop in St. Augustine. The bus will take you to A1A Scenic Highway, where you will need to get off. The Historical Marker will be a short walk from the stop, approximately 0.5 miles. Confirm the bus schedule ahead of time as services may vary.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle in St. Augustine. Head south on San Marco Ave, then take FL-312 E towards A1A S. Follow A1A S for approximately 3 miles until you reach the Historical Marker. There are bike lanes, and it’s a scenic route along the coast. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules.

• Walk

  Walking to the Historical Marker is another option if you are nearby. From the nearest point such as Anastasia State Park, head north along A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway. It is about a 1.5-mile walk to the Historical Marker, making for a pleasant stroll along the coast. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially on hot days.
