Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, located in the heart of downtown Tampa, is a dynamic public space that has become a central gathering place for locals and tourists alike. The park's story is one of transformation, evolving from the site of the former Curtis Hixon Hall, Tampa's first convention center and indoor arena built in 1965, into the vibrant green space it is today. After Curtis Hixon Hall was demolished in 1993, the area was initially converted into a park. However, it was the redesign and expansion in 2010 as part of the Tampa Riverwalk project that truly transformed the space. Landscape architect Thomas Balsley reimagined the park, creating open views of the Hillsborough River and the University of Tampa.
