Discover more about Sylvie Fahrer & Son

Domaine Sylvie Fahrer & Son, located in the picturesque village of Saint-Hippolyte, is a testament to the enduring legacy of family winemaking in the heart of Alsace. For four generations, this estate has been crafting exceptional wines, deeply rooted in the region's rich terroir and traditions. The story began in 1932 with Joseph Fahrer, one of the first in Saint-Hippolyte to bottle and sell his own wine, marking the humble beginnings of a family passion. Armand Fahrer, the second generation, dedicated himself to developing the estate, focusing exclusively on producing AOC Alsace wines from 1954. He and his wife, Liliane, expanded the business, building a storage cellar, a wine cellar, and a sales area to accommodate the growing tourism and appreciation for Alsatian wines. After Armand's passing in 1992, Liliane and their daughter, Sylvie, took the reins, ensuring the family's land heritage was preserved. Today, Sylvie, along with her son Raphaël, the fourth generation, continues the family tradition. Raphaël, deeply committed to his heritage and the art of winemaking, converted the vineyard to organic practices in 2018, reflecting a profound respect for the land and its natural resources. The estate spans 11 hectares across seven distinct terroirs, each contributing unique characteristics to their wines. Domaine Sylvie Fahrer & Son produces the seven noble grape varieties of Alsace: Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Chasselas. This allows them to craft a diverse range of wines, including Crémants, rosé wines, and special cuvées, each reflecting the unique personality of the terroir. Visitors to Domaine Sylvie Fahrer & Son are invited to immerse themselves in the world of Alsatian wine. Guided tours of the vineyards and cellars offer insights into the winemaking process, from grape to bottle. Wine tastings provide an opportunity to savor the flavors and aromas of their exceptional wines, accompanied by stories of the family's history and dedication. For those seeking a more extended experience, the estate offers charming guest rooms, allowing visitors to wake up amidst the vineyards and fully embrace the Alsatian lifestyle. Saint-Hippolyte itself is a captivating village, steeped in history and surrounded by vineyards. Its strategic location at the foot of the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle makes it an ideal base for exploring the region's many attractions. The village is known for its Pinot Noir, locally referred to as 'Rouge de Saint-Hippolyte'. The village boasts historical landmarks such as the 15th- and 16th-century Gothic church, remnants of ancient ramparts, and a 16th-century fountain, all testaments to its rich past. The Alsace Wine Route, the oldest wine route in France, winds its way through Saint-Hippolyte, inviting travelers to discover the region's exceptional wines and picturesque villages.
