Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Walking
The Centre Historique is easily explored on foot. From the Gare d'Annecy train station, walk southeast towards the lake and old town. Cross the Pont Morens and follow Quai Madame de Warens along the Canal du Vassé. The entrance to the old town is a short walk from here. Walking is the best way to navigate the narrow, pedestrian-friendly streets.
Public Transport
If arriving by bus at the Gare Routière (bus station) next to the train station, the Centre Historique is a short walk away. Local SIBRA buses serve the greater Annecy area, but most attractions within the old town are easily accessible by foot from the bus station. A single bus ticket costs approximately €1.50.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Taxis are available at the Gare d'Annecy. A short taxi ride to the Centre Historique will cost approximately €10-€15. Ride-sharing services may also be available. However, due to the pedestrian nature of the old town, you may be dropped off at the edge of the area and need to walk the final distance.
Parking
If driving, parking is available in several underground car parks around the Centre Historique, including Parking de l'Hôtel-de-Ville and Parking Château. Parking rates typically range from €2-€3 per hour. Free parking is rare in the city center, but some free parking is available on the outskirts with park-and-ride options. Be aware that some car parks close between 1:00 AM and 7:00 AM.
Use Centre historique as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
