Le Pâquier: Annecy's Lakeside Green Oasis

Le Pâquier, also known as Champ de Mars, is a sprawling 7.5-hectare parkland in the heart of Annecy, offering stunning views of Lake Annecy and the surrounding mountains. This iconic green space is a favorite among locals and tourists, providing a place for relaxation, recreation, and community events.Originally, Le Pâquier served as communal pastureland in the 17th century, its name derived from the Arpitan word for pasture. Over time, the city acquired the land, transforming it into the landscaped promenade seen today. One legend tells of Dame Mossière, who gifted a portion of the land for children to enjoy.Today, Le Pâquier is a hub of activity. Visitors can stroll along tree-lined walkways, picnic on the vast lawns, or simply relax on benches while admiring the scenery.
