Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Avignon Central Train Station (Gare d'Avignon Centre). Exit the station and head south on Rue de la République for about 10 minutes until you reach Place de l'Horloge. This is a central square in Avignon filled with cafes and shops. From here, continue walking south on Rue de la République until you reach the Palais des Papes. After exploring the Palais, head west towards Rue de la Banasterie, then turn left onto Rue de la Couronne. Follow this street until you reach the bridge Pont Saint-Bénézet. Cross the bridge to reach the other side of the Rhône River. Once across, continue straight until you reach the town of Arles, which is approximately a 20-minute walk from the bridge. Look for signs directing you towards 'Cryptoportiques'. The landmark is located at 4 Plan de la Cour, Arles.

  From Avignon Central Train Station, walk to the nearby bus stop at Gare Routière, which is located adjacent to the train station. Take bus line 1 towards Arles. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the Arles stop, which is close to the city center. Once you disembark, head towards the Place de la République and navigate towards Rue de la Couronne. Follow the signs for Cryptoportiques d'Arles, which will lead you to 4 Plan de la Cour, Arles.

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from various locations in Avignon. Start at the Avignon Central Train Station and head south towards the Rhône River. Follow the riverbank westwards until you reach the town of Arles. This route is approximately 20 kilometers and offers a scenic view of the countryside. Once you arrive in Arles, navigate towards the city center and look for signs directing you to Cryptoportiques d'Arles, located at 4 Plan de la Cour.
