Discover more about Domaine du Mas de la Cure

Domaine du Mas de la Cure, situated in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, lies on the edge of the Petit Rhône, approximately 13 kilometers from the village and 24 kilometers from Arles, within the Regional Natural Park of Camargue. This historical landmark provides an immersive experience into the heart of the Camargue region. Once part of the Château d'Avignon estate, the Mas de la Cure has a rich history tied to viticulture and agriculture. In the late 19th century, under the ownership of Louis Noilly Prat, the estate became a significant wine-producing village, even resisting the phylloxera crisis due to its unique winter flooding system. The estate included a chapel, bakery, forge, and housing for over a hundred workers. Today, the Domaine is a protected area where visitors can discover the Camargue horse and its traditional breeding. The Maison du Cheval Camargue is headquartered here, offering guided tours that explore the horse's natural habitat and its role in the region's ecosystem. The diverse landscape supports exceptional flora and fauna, including white storks, gray herons and various eagle species.
