Bac du Rocher des Doms: A Scenic River Crossing

The Bac du Rocher des Doms is more than just a means of transportation; it's a mini-cruise offering unique perspectives of Avignon's iconic landmarks. This free river shuttle, also known as Navette Fluviale, facilitates passage across the Rhône from Quai de la Ligne, situated at the foot of Rocher des Doms, to Île de la Barthelasse.Île de la Barthelasse, Europe's largest river island, presents a tranquil escape with opportunities for walking and cycling. The shuttle ride itself provides wonderful views of the Pont d'Avignon, the city walls, and the Palais des Papes. The Rocher des Doms, the rock outcropping upon which the park sits, has been inhabited since Neolithic times.The shuttle typically operates from mid-February to December, with departures approximately every 15 minutes. However, service may be interrupted on windy days or during periods of high water levels on the Rhône. The shuttle can accommodate up to 50 passengers, including those with bicycles and wheelchairs, making it accessible for most visitors.
