Walking
From the main village (Vaiea) in Maupiti, head south towards the beach. Follow the path along the coast until you reach the end of the beach. Look for a trail that leads up into the hills. This trail will take you towards the base of Mt. Teurafaatiu. It's a well-trodden path, but take care as it can be uneven and steep in places.

Once you reach the base of Mt. Teurafaatiu, begin your ascent. The trail is marked with occasional signs and rock piles. Be prepared for a steep climb with some rocky sections. Take breaks as needed to enjoy the breathtaking views of Maupiti and the surrounding lagoon. The total hike to the summit takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.

Upon reaching the summit of Mt. Teurafaatiu, take time to enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the island and the ocean. This is a perfect spot for photography and enjoying the serene atmosphere. Ensure you have enough water and snacks for your descent back down.

When you are ready to leave the summit, follow the same trail back down to the base of the mountain. Be cautious on the descent as the rocks can be slippery. Once back at the base, retrace your steps to the main village in Vaiea.
