Teahupo'o, loosely translated as "wall of skulls" or "place of skulls," is a village on the southeastern coast of Tahiti in French Polynesia. It's located on Tahiti Iti, the smaller of Tahiti's two extinct volcanoes. The wave breaks over a shallow coral reef, sometimes only 20 inches below the surface, creating a unique hollow-breaking wave.
