If you're traveling by car, begin your journey from Telavi, the capital of Kakheti. Head southwest on the E117 road for about 30 km until you reach the town of Sagarejo. From there, turn onto the C8 road towards Udabno. Follow this road for approximately 25 km. As you approach Udabno, look for signs directing you to David Gareji monastery. The final stretch includes a dirt road leading directly to the monastery. Be aware that the road may be rough, so a vehicle with good clearance is advisable. Parking is available near the monastery.

To reach David Gareji using public transportation, start by taking a marshrutka (minibus) from Telavi or Tbilisi to Sagarejo. Marshrutkas depart frequently from the central bus stations. Upon arriving in Sagarejo, you will need to hire a taxi or find a local bus heading to Udabno. The taxi fare can range from 15 to 25 GEL, depending on negotiation. Once in Udabno, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the monastery, which is about 10 km away.
