Navenakhevi Cave: Imereti's Subterranean Jewel

Navenakhevi Cave, nestled in the Terjola Municipality of the Imereti region, offers a captivating subterranean experience. This karst cave, located near the village of Navenakhevi, is a natural wonder adorned with impressive stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years. The cave features a two-story structure with four distinct halls, extending approximately 250 meters in length. Discovered in the 1930s and brought to wider attention in the 1980s, Navenakhevi Cave officially opened as a tourist destination in 2018. A unique feature is the absence of a separate exit; a massive, seven-meter stalagmite obstructs the passage. Today, visitors can enjoy well-maintained facilities, including a visitor center, amphitheater, cafeteria, souvenir shop, and children's entertainment area. Educational spaces offer eco-lessons, and forest trails invite exploration of the surrounding area. The cave's interior is illuminated, enhancing the beauty of its geological formations.
